About Us

A Little House. A Lot of Love

Hi! I'm Melissa, Lyra's hooman and the heart behind Rosewood Eurasiers. My husband, Chris, and I share five grown children, two much-loved (and thoroughly spoiled) dogs, a cat, and a small home we affectionately call The Little House. We downsized. Oy vey!

Surrounded by more than 350 rose bushes, our Little House and my lifelong love of roses inspired the name Rosewood Eurasiers.

Our Eurasier, Lyra, German Shepherd, Jax, and cat, Logan, are cherished members of our family. They especially love when the children come home to visit, bringing plenty of attention, playtime, and the excitement of having their whole pack together.

We love exploring North Georgia with our dogs, whether it's hiking a new trail, discovering a dog-friendly restaurant, finding a river to romp in, or stopping for a well-earned vanilla ice cream treat. Sometimes the best adventures are the simplest ones, especially when our four-legged companions are along for the ride.

Our animals are woven into the fabric of our everyday lives, sharing our routines, our home, and our family gatherings. Life at The Little House is rarely quiet, always full of love, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Heart Behind Rosewood

The Breed Who Changed Everything

I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember. From my childhood German Shepherd, Fritz, to the wonderful dogs who have shared our home over the years, each has held a special place in my heart.

After losing our beloved Pomeranian, Kelly, I began researching different breeds, wondering what might make the perfect family companion. During one of those searches, I came across a list of ten recommended breeds. Among them was one I'd never heard of before—the Eurasier.

Curious, I began reading everything I could about the breed. The more I discovered about their temperament, intelligence, and extraordinary devotion to family, the more intrigued I became. I had a feeling I'd found something very special.

A Special Connection

And Then Came Lyra

In the summer of 2022, I traveled to Virginia to meet Lisa Nilson of Shenandoah Eurasiers and her dogs. Seeing these beautiful dogs in person only deepened my love for the breed. What began as a visit would become a lasting friendship and mentorship, with Lisa generously sharing her knowledge and experience as my journey with the Eurasier unfolded.

That fall, Lisa contacted me with the wonderful news that her girl, Lexi, was expecting puppies in November. In early January 2023, we welcomed Lyra into our family.

I have loved every dog who has shared my life, but the bond I developed with Lyra was unlike anything I had experienced before. Her intelligence, intuition, affectionate nature, and extraordinary devotion brought to life everything I had admired about the Eurasier.

Lyra didn't just make me fall more deeply in love with the breed. She inspired what would eventually become Rosewood Eurasiers.

Our Purpose

Why Rosewood Eurasiers?

I have always had an interest and curiosity in breeding dogs, having shared my life with and loved many wonderful dogs over the years. But there was something different about the Eurasier. The extraordinary bond I developed with Lyra—her devotion, sensitivity, and the unique way she connects with our family—deepened my appreciation for the breed and gave that long-standing interest a new sense of purpose.

With relatively few Eurasiers in the United States, I began to feel that I wanted to do more than simply enjoy this wonderful breed. I wanted to help introduce other families to the extraordinary companionship, devotion, and unique personalities that make Eurasiers so special.

Rosewood Eurasiers was born from that love and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the breed's future. Our goal is to raise healthy, well-adjusted puppies while thoughtfully preserving the temperament, character, and physical qualities that define the Eurasier.

Above all, I hope the families who welcome a Rosewood puppy into their lives will experience the same remarkable connection that Lyra has brought into mine.
